Jared Newton

This week’s Throwback we are catching up with Jared Newton, a former Bishop Rawstorne Academy student who attended Winstanley College from 2013 to 2015. Jared is now a qualified solicitor, working in London.

During his time at Winstanley, Jared studied Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and History, while actively participating in Rugby Union and Rugby League. He also had the opportunity to join the unforgettable Washington and New York trip.

After Winstanley, Jared pursued a Law degree at Durham University, followed by a master’s in Law and then the Legal Practice Course at Sunderland University. His dedication led him to secure a competitive training contract and ultimately qualify as a solicitor through the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

Today, Jared is a qualified solicitor at a property firm based in London, with aspirations of becoming a partner in a law firm.

For those considering legal career, Jared’s advice is: ‘Always be on the lookout for extra boosters that can set you apart. Training Contracts are super competitive, and sometimes it can come down to that extra month of work experience or extracurricular activity you did when you were 16.’
