Ethos and Values

Everyone at Winstanley holds a shared ethos of excellence, support and inspiration. Our mission is to create and sustain a high-quality educational environment in which students are presented with standards of academic brilliance and opportunities to succeed.

Students at Winstanley strive to learn and fulfil their potential, as proven by our year-on-year fantastic results. On becoming part of the College community, students are nurtured and supported throughout every stage of their journey with us. As a result, they display confidence, resilience and strength of character; invaluable traits that will help them succeed in life beyond Winstanley.

Mission

To achieve academic excellence in a supportive and inspiring learning community

Sixth form is a transitional stage between compulsory and higher education before embarking upon higher education, employment, or further training. Therefore, students are expected to take on far more responsibility for their own learning than in Year 11. We recognise that a crucial element to students' success is the relationship we foster with their parents, whom we liaise with accordingly whilst taking into account individual needs and circumstances.

Winstanley College expects a high standard of conduct and looks for the development of good working relationships with students, parents, and College staff.

Strategic Objectives

  • To deliver the highest quality educational provision, outstanding guidance and support.
  • To manage the College’s finances, estates and resources effectively to achieve best value and the best possible experience for students.
  • To safeguard and promote the health, safety and positive well-being of all who study and work at the College.
  • To promote, support and celebrate equality and diversity.
  • To enhance the student experience with outstanding extra-curricular provision.
  • To raise the aspirations of students to reach the best possible destination they can.
  • To ensure our staff have the opportunity to develop as outstanding professionals.
  • To develop strong and productive links with schools, universities, employers and other stakeholders.
  • To be a learning organisation where self-review and evaluation are integral to continuous improvement.

Students benefit from a caring and nurturing culture that encourages them to aim high and to aspire to progress to high-quality destinations. Students tell us that teachers have high expectations of them and that they develop positive relationships with their students. Students trust their teachers.
