Throwback Thursday

Danielle Hunt – From Winstanley College to Chief Executive

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we’re catching up with former student Danielle Hunt, who studied at Winstanley College 2002 – 2004.

Danielle attended St. Thomas More RC High School before joining Winstanley College, where she studied Maths, Business, and Biology from 2002 to 2004.

After completing her studies at College, Danielle pursued a Maths degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. During her time there, she took on a role at Nationwide Building Society to gain hands-on experience in the banking sector, an area she was initially interested in. This experience gave her valuable insights into finance, customer service, and the importance of structured training—skills that would prove invaluable in her later career.

Today, Danielle serves as the Chief Executive of Pharmacist Support, a charity dedicated to promoting the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacists, students, and trainees in the pharmacy field. Under Danielle’s leadership, the charity has flourished, winning Small Charity of the Year in 2023 at the Association of Charitable Organisation awards. With over 16 years in the charity sector, Danielle’s career also includes a role as Operations Director at Keep Britain Tidy, where she further honed her leadership and operational skills.

Looking forward, Danielle remains committed to the charity sector, and she is currently pursuing a finance qualification to support her ongoing professional growth. Danielle’s advice to any aspiring students considering a career in the charity field is: ‘Volunteering for a charity is a great way to get a feel for the work and gain hands-on experience. Take every training and development opportunity and seek mentors who can guide you along the way.”
