Review: Our House at Winstanley College
Featured News - Dec 19
Year 11 students from Upholland High School visited college this week for a GCSE revision day. Accompanying them was Associate Assistant Head and former student, Natalie Jennings. Mrs Jenning enjoyed looking round college and seeing the changes that had happened since she left in 2004.
Natalie said: “I came to Winstanley from St Peter’s High School. With being so local, lots of my friends came too which was nice.
After college, I went on to Edge Hill University to take a degree in Key Stage 2 and 3 Education with Science. I got my first job at a school in Harpurhey where I worked my way up to Head of Science. I then moved to Hawkley Hall High School for five years, working as Head of Science. I have been at Upholland since September where my role is Associate Assistant Head as well as Head of Science and Computing.
I really enjoyed my two years at Winstanley, and it inspired me to go on and study science further. It is nice to be back with students about to take their next steps into further education. Ro anyone thinking of getting into teaching I would say get some work experience and think about the areas you could specialise inn. You will naturally be enthusiastic about teaching a subject you are passionate about.”
