Bita Jedo

If you are interested in a career in digital media check out this week’s Throwback Thursday. Former student, Bita Jedo, who studied at Winstanley between 2013 and 2015 is now a Global Influencer Lead at Bumble. 

Bita said: I attended Walkden High School before coming to Winstanley to take A-levels in Media, Psychology and English Combined. It was the best two years and I have nothing but fond memories. I had amazing teachers and lots of support which meant I went from getting Bs & Cs in high school to leaving Winstanley with straight As.

After Winstanley I progressed to The University of Leeds and took a BA in Digital Media. Whilst at uni, I carried our work experience at 2 digital agencies: Zeal & Sticky Eyes, which really helped me to understand the skills and qualities needed in the digital media industry.

Since leaving University I have been employed at Bumble and I am now a full time Global Influencer Lead. I also volunteer as a creator and content lead for OK Mentor and freelance as a consultant and content creator.

For any students considering a career in digital media I would advise that work experience during University is what enabled me to get a graduate job. There’s lots of competition so always look for extra things you can do to make your CV & LinkedIn stronger.”
