Andrew Harbot-Taylor

Andrew, former St Joseph’s High School pupil, attended Winstanley between 1996 and 1998 he is now a Financial Controller for Awaze Vacation Rentals.

Andew says:

‘At Winstanley I studied for Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Spanish.

Following my A-Levels I did 4 years at Nottingham University for my Master of Physics Degree.

My first job was with an IT firm where, with my top degree, my role was to stick Asset stickers on computers! But I made the role my own and quickly progressed through the firm. 4 years later I left and retrained as an accountant with KPMG before relocating back to the North-West.

In July 2009 I joined a company called Holiday Cottages Group based near Skipton as their Head of Internal Audit. Over the years that followed we acquired Hoseasons Holidays, Cumbrian Cottages and James Villa Holidays and became Awaze Vacation Rentals. Over the 15 years I have been there I have done multiple roles and am currently the Financial Controller responsible mainly for Balance Sheet and Cashflow forecasting within our private equity business.

My advice to current students would be to be the best you can, whatever the task, hard work and capability will be recognised and you will be soon moved to a more interesting and challenging task.’
