Featured News - Dec 19
This week we are catching up with Rebecca Laithwaite, former Shevington High and Winstanley College student.
Rebecca attended Winstanley from 2014 to 2016, and studied Media, English Language and Literature, and Creative Writing. During her time at Winstanley, Rebecca made the most of the enrichment opportunities on offer and completed an introductory course in British Sign Language. She also set up a student magazine, had poetry published in anthologies, and was a member of Amnesty International - wow!
After completing her A Levels, Rebecca went on to study BA(Hons) Journalism at Nottingham Trent University, where she achieved a 2:1. Now, Rebecca works as a Social Media Executive in Leeds, and loves getting creative with campaigns and advertisements. In future, Rebecca hopes to progress to the role of Social Media Director or Creative Director!
When asked what advice she would give to students thinking of applying to Winstanley, Rebecca said:
‘Be yourself and follow your passion and interests. Winstanley will always do its best to support you and encourage you throughout your journey.’
