Winstanley College Men's Football Advance to the last 16 of AoC Sport National Knockout Cup After Comeback Victory

Winstanley College Men's Football team have progressed to the Last 16 of the AoC Sport Men's National Knockout Cup following a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Reaseheath College.

The team found themselves 2-0 down with 25 minutes to go despite controlling the majority of the game against a well organised Reaseheath College side. But, two quick goals from Taylor Field and Dan Hart levelled the tie with under 15 minutes to go before a fantastic through ball from Macauley Brooks found Max McCaffrey who cooly finished to win the game with 2 minutes left to play.

The team will now host Brooksby Melton College in the Round of 16 later this month. Team Manager Ben Rutherford had the following to say on the victory:

'I am delighted with the comeback win, the lads showed a never say die spirit and a willingness to keep going till the very end. We know there are things to work on but what a win! We are looking forward to hosting Brooksby Melton in the last 16 and challenging ourselves again.'
