'Get Into Teaching' Event

Aspiring educators at Winstanley College had the opportunity to explore a future in teaching during a recent ‘get into teaching’ event. The event featured guest speakers from Edge Hill University and the North West Learning Partnership, who shared valuable insights and advice on pursuing a career in education.

The session included engaging talks from the guest speakers, who provided information on teacher training pathways, qualifications, and the rewards of a career in teaching. The speakers also highlighted the diverse opportunities available within the education sector, encouraging students to consider the many different roles within schools and educational settings.

Following the presentations, the students were divided into teams and given the challenge of planning lessons in numeracy and literacy for primary-aged children. The hands-on activity gave students a taste of what it's like to create lesson plans and think critically about how to engage and inspire young learners.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and insight into the world of teaching, helping them make informed decisions about their future careers.
