Throwback Thursday: Katie Thompson
BackFor this week’s Throwback Thursday, we catch up with former student, Katie Thompson, who is now making an impact as Events and Communication Officer for The Woodland Trust.
Katie attended St Joseph’s High School before joining Winstanley in 2014. During her time here, she studied Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, developing a strong foundation in the sciences. Following her studies, Katie progressed to Durham University to pursue a degree in Biology, before taking on a master’s in wildlife Documentary Production. This unique combination of scientific knowledge and media skills has proven invaluable in her current role at The Woodland Trust.
As Events and Communication Officer, Katie merges her passion for all things biological with her technical expertise to raise awareness and engage the public with the charity’s work. One of her main projects is The Woodland Trust’s ancient woodland campaign, and Katie is excited to continue developing her career in this important area of environmental advocacy.
We were delighted to welcome Katie back to Winstanley College recently, where she spoke to our students about her career and inspired them to consider careers within the green and charity sectors.
Thank you, Katie, for coming back to share your story with us and for being such an inspiration to our current students. If you’re a Winstanley College alum and would like to be featured in a future Throwback Thursday, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you!
