Throwback Thursday: Olivia Kendrick
BackFor this week’s Throwback Thursday, we’re spotlighting Olivia Kendrick, who studied at Winstanley College between 2014 and 2016. Olivia is now working as a Tax Accountant for Manchester United!
Olivia, who previously attended Hawkley Hall High School studied Maths, Chemistry, and Psychology, at College before progressing to a first-class degree in Accounting and Finance at Manchester Metropolitan University.
While at College, she participated in work experience at Fairhurst Accountants in Wigan during the summer of 2015, gaining valuable early insight into the accounting profession. Olivia also had the opportunity to travel to New York on a Psychology trip in January 2015, a highlight of her Winstanley experience.
Following her degree, Olivia went on to achieve the prestigious ACCA qualification, becoming a fully qualified accountant in July 2022.
Today, Olivia works as a Tax Accountant for Manchester United Football Club, combining her professional expertise with her passion for sports. Looking ahead, she hopes to further her career by stepping into a managerial role or transitioning into a different sports sector, such as Formula 1. Beyond her career, Olivia dreams of traveling the world.
For those considering a career in accounting, Olivia offers practical advice:
"Get good at Excel formulas and spreadsheets! Honestly, 95% of what I do is based on Excel, which is something I never even considered while I was at College. It’s one of the main differences between studying accounting and actually being in the job."
Thank you, Olivia, for sharing yor journey; we can’t wait to see what’s next for you!
